Generator Replacement Project

Project Overview

During last year’s Electrical Shutdowns for the Electrical Infrastructure Project, we utilized the building emergency power generator to maintain critical equipment in the building. During our last of the planned 19 shutdowns the generator blew up. We scrambled to find a replacement during a time when vendors were still reeling from supply chain issues. We were very lucky to find a new generator within a week. This work requires (4) large crane picks beginning with the removal of the damaged generator. After structural checks and a full generator power re-design we are now preparing to start the new generator.

The new generator will supply both Emergency and Life Safety Power to the building. The benefits of the new generator are:

• State of the art controls and safeties
• Nearly 3x the power capacity
• Meets latest EPA air emissions requirements.

We expect to have the new generator online by the end of March 2024
